Several of the scenarios below borrow heavily from those described in the HL7 Decision Support Service (DSS) Service Functional Model Version 1.0. These are centered on a provider named David - we have both embellished and simplified these scenarios to clarify context. We remain deeply indebted to this ground-breaking effort; attribution is provided for the entire scenario in lieu of quoting text that we have repurposed verbatim.
David is dual boarded as an internist and a pulmonologist. He is the informatics domain expert at Healthcare Plan “A” (HP A) and is responsible for creating clinical guidelines for his institution’s decision support system (DSS A).
