Dx Accelerator Data Element Review

• Reviewing data elements of Dx Accelerator (COVID-19 Surveillance Program), as a literature review, around establishing topics for elements that are identified as important for tracking regarding the treatment of COVID-19

• Discussing how to establish terminological gaps and what is the process fill them (e.g., Solor to help provide an easy to use extension that could get published to the larger SDO standard)

  • discussing model/taxonomy symmetry where there is an imbalance of the model

    • Example is Acute Asthma as a grouper, but no grouper for Chronic Asthma

  • discussion issues around missing subsumption and inheritance

• Reviewing where matches were straightforward

• Reviewing harder to define data elements using RxNorm

  • Solor has the ability to harmonize RxNorm and SNOMED CT (via beta release of RxNorm ontology via class hierarchies)

    • Looked at the concept Fluvastatin

    • VA contributes to Med-RT

• Do certain medications (e.g., statins) interfere with COVID-19 tests

• How to codify NDC codes as data elements to be used in ANF topics

• Select simple matches (e.g., Acute repository infection)

• Select Lung disease as a concept to develop a better terminology extension to improve it’s coherence to the Dx Accelerator elements
