Goals
List goals for this meeting (e.g., Set design priorities for FY19):
- Discuss metamodel proposal for SDMN Data Item Assignment
- Continue discussion on utilizing preassigned data within BPMN
- Identify next steps
Notes (raw)
We reviewed a proposal to add an assignment mechanism to SDMN that is patterned after the way BPMN updates Data Objects.
BPMN has an assignment class and uses formal expressions for transformations. Looking more closely at examples of BPMN Data Object updates, the transformation mechanism appears to be the way to go.
In the case of SDMN we will update the metamodel but name the property "preAssignment" (see figure below).
We will look at a cleaned up version the metamodel and an object model example next week to confirm.
We discussed how BPMN can use design time data assignments. We note that we are discussing BPMN's current capabilities.
We started with an example of storing the pre-assigned (orderset) data in a xml file. There was pushback on this.
Now that we have a mechanism for storing the pre-assigned data in a SDMN model, we can change the example to use the SDMN file instead.
Based on the discussion, we could envision a process like this:
