Facts:
(1) There is little standardization in the naming of data items for DMN models. Each author names the same item differently. This is not an issue for the isolated model, but it poses a problem for the implementation teams and when a large number of models are in use.
(2) A small number of data items are used in the majority of DMN models.
(3) A standardized data item can control name, units, acceptable range and required codes.
(4) Data items can be dragged and dropped into models.
Goals:
(1) To initially define 300 of the most frequently used data items. This can be expanded over time. NOTE: There is an upper limit for a usable list, when the cost of search and retrieval is greater than the cost of defining a new data item.
(2) To develop a naming convention for data items, to reduce variability in non-standardized items.
