Participants

Goals

List goals for this meeting (e.g., Set design priorities for FY19):

  • Address any Situational Data Requirements from the Field Guide and OMG Meetings
  • Discussion all comments on the Item Definition update proposal

  • Update document as appropriate
  • Identify next steps

Notes (raw)

We will change the designation of the 4th pillar to SDMN Data Model in the figure at the top of the /wiki/spaces/BPMPLUS/pages/416317453 page.
Also, we will change the Project Scope designation to a Knowledge Model (KMN) in the same figure.
Regarding the SDMN metamodel details:
  • The class UnaryTest is not the mechanism to constrain types. I will work with Denis to figure out the actual mechanism.
  • We will invite @Ken Lord to the call to clarify the use of MDMI, rather than just use an attachment to handle external references.
There was a discussion about whether to use UML instead of defining a different (albeit extension) spec to handle the data modeling.
We do have a requirement that all BPM+ models must use the same data model technique.
It is not clear if UML can be used in this way. A UML Profile could be used (question).
We will probably need both.
We can continue down our current path of extending Item Definition and then use that definition to help create a UML Profile.
We will discus with OMG Architecture Board Members (e.g., @Eliza Kendall) to inform them and to get feedback.
Note that the BMI has a different opinion of UML for business modeling than do others in the OMG. An extension of ItemDefinition would go through the BMI.

Action items

Add action items to close the loop on open questions or discussion topics:

  • Invite Ken Lord to next Thursday's call regarding use of MDMI
  • Contact Eliza Kendall to begin discussions on the UML/ItemDefinition issue
