As you build your app, you will want to launch it several times to test out functionality, the user interface, and clinical scenarios.  The HSPC Sandbox is designed to handle these needs.  You can create your own free HSPC Account and HSPC Sandbox at http://sandbox.hspconsortium.org.

Build a new Launch Scenario

A launch scenario is a repeatable clinical scenario involving an app launching.  The HSPC sandbox supports several different types of launch scenarios.  Types of scenarios include a practitioner sign in into the EHR and opening an application with or without a patient, or a patient signing into the patient portal and opening an application.  Standalone launches aren't handled through this interface as they are not launched by the EHR, but launch themselves.

Practitioner Launch Scenario

A practitioner opens the EHR and opens an app.  An example of this scenario would be a Doctor signing into the EHR and opening their messages (no patient in context).

Step 1 - Select PractitionerStep 2 - Choose a PractitionerStep 3 - No PatientStep 4 - Choose an AppStep 5 - Launch or Save

At an actual hospital, a provider (doctor, nurse, etc) would log into the EHR.  The provider would then either open an app without a patient (for example, their messages), or could bring up a patient into the EHR context and then open an app.
