We have a guest speaker today, Keith Toussaint, who is co-leading (along with Matt Burton) a CPG-IG Acute care workgroup that is developing a “COVID-19 severity score” computable resource for emergency department disposition. We flew through the slides during our last call and agreed that seeing the full presentation could be helpful. Our proposed agenda for today is:

1. Guest presentation from Keith Toussaint on the development of a “COVID-19 Severity Score”. This is an extension of work on the use of clinical practice guidelines to develop computable clinical decision support tools using an emerging implementation guide. (30 mins)

2. Q&A and discussion of how this relates our staging work (15 mins)

3. Review of next steps (15 mins)

We’d also like to follow up on the status of the action items:

1.  Brief abstract under development (Laura)

2. Contact NY ED clinician Nick for input on the staging concept and who might use it or find it useful (Dhruv)

3. Contact NYC DOHMH to ask about data flows from their perspective that could support this effort (Laura—done, brief update)

4. Follow up on the overall utility of this ED Staging information to health security organizations (Jim)

5. Determine who our audience is and who our reporting resource is likely to be (all clinicians, please ask around on this one)

6. Look for a hackathon or similar venue to further explore this work (Laura to discuss with Ken Rubin)
