Two Sub-Workstreams of 5.2
Applying ANF to clinical narratives for health factors
Quality Assurance of terminology like SNOMED and LOINC
ANF in Clinical Narratives
Need to define what a chunk is and how it can be used
All of our work should be use-case driven i.e. ultimately tailored for the end-user
Quality Assurance
Technical Debt: the amount of time and effort needed to fix a problem
Intermediate Primitive: A concept that is not fully defined, but has parents and children that are fully defined
Intermediate primitives are an indicator of a problem in the logical classification structure
They can block classification of concepts lower in the hierarchy
SNOMED has intermediate primitives that require a certain level of technical debt to resolve
This is an example of a problem that can be addressed with quality assurance processes
Quality Assurance Process:
Define problematic pattern
Identify qualifying concepts that meet definition
Evaluate whether qualifying concepts are false positives
Calculate amount of hours and minutes required to resolve problematic concepts
