Priority Item – HL7 Argonaut Project

The Argonauts started at a meeting in October.  Discussed how to accelerate FHIR development.  Began to work on finding funding.   The funding will be used to fund work on FHIR profiles so that the version of FHIR to be balloted in the spring would include OAUTH and  C-CDA data.  This would support migration from C-CDA to FHIR.  Stan is on the Argonaut governing committee.  Some funding is going to the Massachusetts Health Data Exchange to provide project management.

The Argonaut project is not doing the leaf level data models or certification and testing.  The Argonauts are not an organization.   Their charter does not extend past the current work.

Epic and Cerner are both supporting the Argonaut project.

HSPC will build on the Argonaut work.  We can distinguish the HSPC value proposition from that of the Argonauts and adding to the value of the Argonaut project.

The Argonauts are developing profiles for provider, patient, medication order, medication administration, .....  HSPC has been working on these and can contribute this work to the Argonauts.

Need to put explanation on the HSPC website.

 Stan Huff
